Patient Need To Know Information

Please bring with you:

  • Your Medicare, Health fund and/or DVA and Pension details
  • Your current prescription glasses.
  • A referral from a GP, Optometrist, or specialist if this has not already been sent in
  • The name of any medication and eye drops that you are currently taking.
  • Please bring a driver, as dilating drops may be required, which makes your vision blurry.
  • A pair of sunglasses for your comfort after the visit, as dilating drops make your eyes more sensitive to glare.

How long will the appointment take:

  • Please allow up to 1.5 – 2 hours for your appointment
  • In most cases, you will be seen by a technician who will take your medical history, check your vision, administer any necessary eye drops and complete any relevant preliminary or follow up tests that are required prior to seeing the Ophthalmologist.
  • You will then be seen by the Ophthalmologist to review results, discuss any problems you are having with your eyes, and plan any ongoing care.

Can I drive after my appointment:

We recommend you bring a driver with you on the day of your appointment, as dilation drops may be required, which make your vision quite blurry for approximately 4 hours.

Parking:

Ample Public parking is available – Please ask our staff which parking spaces are available for Central Ophthalmology patients. We are also in close proximity to the Sunshine Plaza, which has up to 3 hours of free parking.

Payment Options:

Payment of your consultation is payable at the time of your appointment. We can electronically submit your account to Medicare if you have a current referral. Your rebate will be issued into which ever bank account you have set up with Medicare within 24 hours.

We accept Cash, Cheque, EFTPOS & Credit cards including Amex.
