What is a Neuro-Ophthalmology?
Nerve and brain conditions that affect the eyes and vision are often managed in conjunction with a neurologist and/or neurosurgeon. While the eyes receive visual information, the brain interprets that information allowing each of us to make sense of the world around us. The brain also controls and coordinates eye movement and focus.
Some of these conditions require more involved, extended eye examinations, clinical investigations (visual field tests, retinal scans), pathology and imaging investigations. A detailed clinical summary of past medical conditions, current medications and recent test results from your referring local doctor or specialist greatly assists in assessment.
